  1. TO TEAM VIRGINIA:

I'm not much of a blogger so I thought I'd add my quote from the press release that Holly sent to all local papers yesterday:

Team Virginia 2010 is a wonderful mix of athletes; adults and young people; veterans and rookies. From middle distance runner Matt Jones, who is spending his summer as an assistant coach and manager for one of the top American Legion baseball teams in Richmond, to golfer David Curtin, who set up a website and single handedly raised over $3,000 to support Team Virginia and his local Fairfax program, to bowler Matthew Bevins who will be competing in honor of his dad who passed away just days before Matthew was selected; this is a team of leaders, both in Special Olympics and their communities. They will return from Nebraska more responsible citizens, better equipped for a productive and rewarding life; and Nebraska will be bettered by their presence.

Also coaches: I know you will have fun; I know it is grueling trip; thanks for all you do and pace yourself ... and remember to respect your elders, let your coaches' rallying cry be:

    MR. TOOMBS! MR. TOOMBS!

    President
